    Holiday Party

    corin on Dec 18th 2008

Last night Arkiva hosted a holiday party for shareholders and other members of the Arkiva family.

Zach and Bruce gave spectacular presentations about the current state of Arkiva and where we are heading as a company.

Everyone had a fabulous time, and the food and drinks were delicious thanks to Claudia and Susan for setting everything up.

Here are some pictures from the party.

    Saving Memories

    corin on Dec 4th 2008

    Good afternoon, Arkiva!

Yesterday one of our most recent customers, Ursula, came to pick up her first order, a film reel her uncle had made for her almost thirty years ago.

Ursula was so excited when we handed her the DVD because she had never even seen the original film.

After playing the DVD, Ursula could not believe her eyes.

“This is going to be the best holiday gift no matter how much I spend on anything else. You have no idea how happy you’ve made me. You are literally saving memories.”- Ursula

We can’t wait to convert Ursula’s next order so she can once again enjoy all of her precious family memories.

    Until next time…

    Bright Horizons

    corin on Nov 20th 2008

Yesterday Zach and I visited Bright Horizons, a Broward County public school for students (ages 5 to 22) with moderate to severe disabilities.

The students are going to be putting together Arkiva marketing material  as part of their Community Based Instruction (CBI) Program. Both the school and Arkiva are extremely excited about this program, and can’t wait to get started.

Zach and Stacy setting up the materials.

After setting up the materials, Stacy Wolfe, CBI Program coordinator, gave us a tour of the school. It was so amazing to see these children and the progress they are making thanks to the school’s efforts.

We are so happy to be giving back to the community and working with these special needs children, and are very much looking forward to our next visit to the school.

    Sincerely,

    Cori

    Blast from the Past

    corin on Nov 20th 2008

    Good afternoon, Arkiva!

Today Zach and I visited Nova High School, our old stomping grounds. I graduated in 2004, and Zach graduated in 1992, so it was great going back there and seeing how much it has changed and just how much it has stayed the same.

    yearbook-small.jpg

We visited the yearbook adviser, Suzanne Alioto.

    Mrs. A and I

She was my adviser when I was Editor-in-Chief of my senior yearbook, and Zach’s journalism teacher back in the day.

    Zach, Mrs. A, and I

We gathered up all the video yearbooks, and we are going to convert them and upload them into Nova High School groups once the group function is up and running.

We were also able to grab a bunch of old yearbooks, dating back to the 1960s.

    Yearbook closet

Zach even found a copy of his senior yearbook.

    Zach

We are so excited to upload the video yearbooks and images from the books so that alumni can share these memories once again.

    That’s all for now.

    Have a fabulous Wednesday!

Searching the web is GOOD for you!

    corin on Nov 5th 2008

couple-using-computer.jpg    Searching the web is GOOD for you.

A recent study conducted by researchers at UCLA concluded that using search engines, such as Google, can stimulate more brain activity in elderly individuals than reading a book.

Scientists examined two groups of adults between the ages of 55 and 76; one group consisted of habitual internet users, and the other consisted of less tech-savvy individuals.

Researchers found that “there was twice as much activity in those areas of the brain linked to decision making and reasoning” in the habitual internet users when compared to the less tech-savvy participants.

(To read more about this study, click here.)

What does this study mean for Arkiva? Using Arkiva’s search function and Media Share feature can only improve your mind; yet another fantastic reason to utilize all the functions of Arkiva’s web portal.

That’s my bit of information for today. Have a great week!

    Sincerely,

    Cori

    The Business of Memories

    corin on Nov 3rd 2008

    Good morning, everyone!

Friday we met with a yearbook representative to discuss possible methods of integrating this media within Arkiva’s portal. This was a match made in heaven, as both the yearbook representative and our staff at Arkiva are in “the business of memories.”

We are very excited about the ideas we’ve come up with, and can’t wait to get started with them using the group function.

    Have a wonderful week!
