Orb24 is a multi-tiered digital portal for online users. Its central theme is to create one location for all your digital media. Photos, videos, music, documents, medical records, and anything else that may be important to you, can all be safely centralized as a part of you Orb 24 account.
Yesterday Zach and I visited Bright Horizons, a Broward County public school for students (ages 5 to 22) with moderate to severe disabilities.
The students are going to be putting together Arkiva marketing material as part of their Community Based Instruction (CBI) Program. Both the school and Arkiva are extremely excited about this program, and can’t wait to get started.
After setting up the materials, Stacy Wolfe, CBI Program coordinator, gave us a tour of the school. It was so amazing to see these children and the progress they are making thanks to the school’s efforts.
We are so happy to be giving back to the community and working with these special needs children, and are very much looking forward to our next visit to the school.
Today Zach and I visited Nova High School, our old stomping grounds. I graduated in 2004, and Zach graduated in 1992, so it was great going back there and seeing how much it has changed and just how much it has stayed the same.
We visited the yearbook adviser, Suzanne Alioto.
She was my adviser when I was Editor-in-Chief of my senior yearbook, and Zach’s journalism teacher back in the day.
We gathered up all the video yearbooks, and we are going to convert them and upload them into Nova High School groups once the group function is up and running.
We were also able to grab a bunch of old yearbooks, dating back to the 1960s.
Zach even found a copy of his senior yearbook.
We are so excited to upload the video yearbooks and images from the books so that alumni can share these memories once again.
A recent study conducted by researchers at UCLA concluded that using search engines, such as Google, can stimulate more brain activity in elderly individuals than reading a book.
Scientists examined two groups of adults between the ages of 55 and 76; one group consisted of habitual internet users, and the other consisted of less tech-savvy individuals.
Researchers found that “there was twice as much activity in those areas of the brain linked to decision making and reasoning” in the habitual internet users when compared to the less tech-savvy participants.
What does this study mean for Arkiva? Using Arkiva’s search function and Media Share feature can only improve your mind; yet another fantastic reason to utilize all the functions of Arkiva’s web portal.
That’s my bit of information for today. Have a great week!
Friday we met with a yearbook representative to discuss possible methods of integrating this media within Arkiva’s portal. This was a match made in heaven, as both the yearbook representative and our staff at Arkiva are in “the business of memories.”
We are very excited about the ideas we’ve come up with, and can’t wait to get started with them using the group function.
Yesterday, Zach and I went to visit Stan at our local The UPS Store.
“All of our customers are very receptive to our new profit center, Arkiva, as a source of video transfer services. Customers love the convenience of one-stop shopping at The UPS Store. Adding this to our list of services has only had a positive effect on all of our customers. Everyone is quite interested in this new service because of the backing of UPS as a preferred vendor.”– Stan Lewis, The UPS Store #3748
While we were at The UPS Store, John Sherman, Stan’s first Arkiva customer, stopped by to check his mail.
The UPS Store owner, Stan Lewis, hands his first Arkiva customer, John Sherman, a coupon for Arkiva’s conversion service.
”During my daily visit to my local The UPS Store to pick up my mail, I noticed the Arkiva brochures display on the counter. Stan, my local The UPS Store owner, gave me an introductory coupon. This gave me the opportunity to transfer my old 8 mm to DVD. Now I have all of my children’s childhood pictures and videos on DVD and online to share with friends and family.”– John Sherman, Arkiva/The UPS Store customer
We were so excited to see how great this partnership is working and how well customers are responding to the advertising in The UPS Stores.
In just a few weeks we will be introducing Arkiva Groups. This feature adds a huge amount of possibilities to the site. With this function, users will be able to create either a public or private group. Within the group, users can share photos, videos, documents, and other media with fellow group members. Users can connect with one another through blogs and other interactive functions of this feature, which we will explain in full once it is released.
We are EXTREMELY excited about this new feature, and cannot wait to unveil it to the public.
We’re constantly working on improving the site and making sure you have the best experience at Arkiva.
In the height of the digital age, it’s easy to forget the days of video cassettes and film reels. However, it’s just as easy to restore these memories and revamp them in a more techno-savvy format through Arkiva’s digital conversion service.
VHS tapes deteriorate over time, retaining their quality for approximately fifteen to twenty years. Fortunately, there is a way to save these precious memories before it’s too late.
Converting VHS tapes to digital formats such as DVDs and MPEGs ensures that these memories don’t fade over time. Arkiva will not only convert your media, but it will repair it to its best possible quality.
Digital conversion is no longer an option, it’s a necessity. Don’t neglect these precious moments any longer; the sooner you convert, the sooner you can enjoy them once again.
We have added an exciting new feature to the Arkiva web portal: Media Share.
This feature allows you to share your photos and videos with other users on Arkiva, and browse the photos and videos that your fellows users have uploaded to Media Share, as well.
Log into your Arkiva accounts today and test out the new media share feature. Follow these steps to add your existing media to the media share library.
1. Login to your Arkiva account.
2. Go to My Photos or My Videos.
3. Open a photo or video that you want to put on Media Share.
4. Click the button on the right labeled, “Add to Media Share.”
5. Follow directions.
You can view your media and the media of other users by clicking on the “Media Share” button on the top right of the member portal.
As always, we love user feedback, so let us know what you think of this exciting new feature!
