Arkiva Arkiva was founded in 2005, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The catalyst in creating Arkiva was the unprecedented destruction of homes, businesses, and government facilities in Mississippi and Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The founders recognized the potential for protecting assets by creating a digital catalog and they took that to the next level by housing it in a geographically separated data center with built-in redundancy.
The goal was to provide a single secure offsite location to store, access, and share any type of digital material. Originally a home and business inventory service, Arkiva has evolved into the complete digital solution that protects and provides accessibility to any digital material. Through the Arkiva.com portal, customers can edit, share, and restore photos, videos, music, documents, home inventory, medical history, and PC files from their secure personal account.
Arkiva also provides an affordable end-to-end turnkey service that converts old media for customers and gives them the platform to store their already digitized data. Information is stored on remote secure servers and backed up in a redundant data center. This service enables individuals and businesses interested in asset preservation to reconstruct items of value through digital records in case of natural disasters, theft, or fire. Furthermore, the owners of the information have complete and unrestricted online access to this information from any location. By using an internet-based delivery, end users do not require specialized software or knowledge
The increased incidence of hurricanes, tornados, floods, and wildfires show no signs of diminishing and create urgency in developing and deploying a product like Arkiva's "personal cyberhome". These combined factors provide for a window of opportunity in an emerging market that will demonstrate exponential growth. Arkiva brings together the right people and technology to address this market need immediately.
